What Is HydraFacial? The Medical-Grade Deep Facial

HydraFacial is a patented medical-grade facial treatment that combines four simultaneous actions in a single device: vortex cleansing, exfoliation, painless pore extraction, and serum infusion. Unlike traditional facials that cleanse then moisturise, HydraFacial addresses the skin at every level in a single pass — removing congestion, treating the skin with targeted active ingredients, and delivering deep hydration simultaneously.

The core technology is the HydraFacial MD vortex tip — a spiral-grooved handpiece that creates a centrifugal flow of fluid simultaneously drawing out impurities while infusing active serums into the skin. Each treatment uses disposable single-use tips, ensuring clinical hygiene standards.

At Cosmolaser, the HydraFacial device is used with medical-grade serum boosters selected specifically for your skin concern — not the same protocol for every patient. Your skin type, concern, and goals are assessed at the start of every session, and the serum selection and treatment settings are adapted accordingly.

HydraFacial Protocol

Step 1 — Cleanse + Peel

Vortex exfoliation removes the outer layer of dead skin cells, revealing fresh skin beneath. A gentle lactic/salicylic acid blend loosens impurities in the pores.

Step 2 — Extract

Painless vacuum extraction removes blackheads, whiteheads, and excess sebum from pores — without the manual squeezing of traditional extraction.

Step 3 — Infuse

Targeted medical-grade serums (hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, peptides, brightening agents, salicylic acid, or retinol — selected for your concern) are infused deep into the freshly cleaned skin.

Step 4 — Protect + Finish

Antioxidant protection, skin-calming actives, and finishing hydration seal the treatment and protect the skin.

Customisation

Booster serums, peel solution strength, extraction pressure, and infusion product all adjusted per patient skin type and concern.

Downtime

None. Skin may appear slightly flushed for 1–2 hours. Return to activities immediately.

Session frequency

Monthly maintenance is optimal for most concerns. Acute conditions (active acne) may benefit from every 2–3 weeks initially.

HydraFacial Treatments by Skin Concern

STANDARD HYDRAFACIAL

HydraFacial — Acne & Congested Skin

Deep cleansing + salicylic acid extraction + anti-bacterial infusion for active acne, congestion, and oily breakout-prone skin

Active acne and congested skin require both deep extraction — removing the sebum and debris that block pores and feed acne bacteria — and targeted anti-bacterial treatment to address the bacterial component of acne formation. This variant uses a salicylic acid peel solution in the cleansing step, high-vacuum extraction pressure for deep pore decongestion, and a salicylic + zinc + niacinamide infusion serum that reduces bacterial load, controls oil production, and calms post-acne inflammation simultaneously.

STANDARD HYDRAFACIAL

HydraFacial — Oily Skin & Pore Refinement

Sebum control + pore-minimising extraction + oil-regulating serum for visibly enlarged pores and excess oil

Oily skin in the UAE climate is compounded by heat-driven excess sebum production — and standard moisturising facials often worsen the condition by adding surface occlusion over congested pores. This variant focuses on the extraction phase, using the maximum appropriate extraction pressure to fully clear pore contents, followed by an oil-regulating serum containing salicylic acid, retinol precursors, and niacinamide that addresses the sebaceous gland activity at the source.

PREMIUM + PDT

HydraFacial — Deep Hydration

LHA micro-exfoliation + brightening serum complex + pore-minimising peptides + PDT for the translucent, smooth, radiant ‘glass skin’ effect

The UAE climate continuously dehydrates skin at the surface level — UV heat drives moisture loss, and indoor air conditioning strips it further. This variant de-prioritises aggressive exfoliation in favour of maximum serum infusion volume, using the highest-concentration hyaluronic acid HydraFacial booster alongside a peptide-rich recovery serum and an antioxidant complex that neutralises the free radical damage from daily UV exposure.

The result is the classic HydraFacial ‘glass skin’ effect — immediate surface luminosity and a visibly plumped, hydrated appearance that is most pronounced immediately after the session and develops over 24–48 hours as the HA fully integrates into the skin.

PREMIUM + PDT

HydraFacial — Pigmentation & Brightening

Brightening peel + vitamin C + kojic acid infusion for sun spots, uneven tone, and post-acne hyperpigmentation

Sun-induced pigmentation, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (post-acne marks) all involve excess melanin production in the skin. This variant uses a brightening peel solution containing lactic acid and kojic acid in the exfoliation step, combined with a vitamin C + arbutin + tranexamic acid brightening infusion that interrupts the melanin synthesis pathway and accelerates the natural turnover of pigmented skin cells. For patients with melasma, this is used as a supportive treatment alongside a medically supervised depigmentation programme.

PREMIUM + PDT

HydraFacial — Sea Coral Peel

Enzyme-based coral-derived exfoliation + marine hydration + reef complex for sensitive skin, dullness, and gentle resurfacing

The Sea Coral Peel variant uses a marine-derived enzyme peel solution — a blend of sea coral extract and coral reef complex actives — in place of the standard acid peel step. Enzyme-based exfoliation is significantly gentler than acid peels, making this the preferred HydraFacial variant for patients with sensitive, reactive, or rosacea-prone skin who need resurfacing without the risk of irritation. The marine actives also provide a high mineral content — zinc, magnesium, and marine collagen precursors — that supports skin barrier repair.

Dermapen + HydraFacial — Enhanced Skin Renewal Protocol

Dermapen + HydraFacial

Microneedling-induced collagen stimulation + deep HydraFacial infusion — for acne scars, enlarged pores, and skin texture improvement

The Dermapen + HydraFacial combination protocol sequences microneedling immediately before the HydraFacial infusion step — creating a significantly enhanced serum delivery outcome. Dermapen microneedling creates thousands of precise micro-channels in the skin, increasing the penetration depth of subsequently applied serums by up to 80% compared to topical application alone. When the HydraFacial infusion step immediately follows, targeted serums (hyaluronic acid, growth factors, peptides, or brightening agents) are delivered at a depth and concentration that topical-only protocols cannot match.

Beyond the enhanced delivery benefit, Dermapen independently stimulates the skin’s own collagen and elastin production through controlled micro-injury — progressively improving the appearance of acne scars, enlarged pores, and skin texture over a course of 4–6 sessions.

Protocol Detail

Duration

75–90 minutes total — Dermapen 30–40 min, HydraFacial 30–40 min

Downtime

Mild redness and skin flushing for 24–48 hours. Slight skin roughness as micro-channels heal — day 2–3. No social downtime for most patients.

Frequency

Monthly sessions — collagen remodelling continues between sessions. 4–6 sessions for acne scar treatment. Monthly maintenance thereafter.

Not suitable for

Active acne breakouts (wait until clear) · Within 2 weeks of sunburn · Active skin infections · Isotretinoin use within 6 months

Best results for

Acne scars (rolling and boxcar) · Enlarged pores · Uneven skin texture · Fine lines · General skin quality improvement

LHA Peel Facial Protocols — Premium Medical Facials

LHA (Lipo-Hydroxy Acid) is a lipophilic (oil-soluble) derivative of salicylic acid. Its larger molecular size means it penetrates the skin’s lipid layer more selectively — reaching sebaceous follicles and the stratum corneum preferentially while causing less diffuse irritation than standard salicylic or glycolic acid peels. The result is a more targeted, more controlled chemical exfoliation that achieves significant skin renewal with minimal risk of post-peel redness or sensitivity — making it particularly suitable for UAE skin types, which frequently have a history of sun damage alongside sensitivity.

PREMIUM + PDT

LHA Peel — Anti-Ageing

LHA resurfacing + growth factor infusion + collagen-stimulating peptides + PDT for fine lines, loss of firmness, and skin renewal

The anti-ageing LHA peel protocol delivers a medical-grade chemical exfoliation that accelerates cell turnover, removes the layer of UV-damaged skin cells that makes mature skin appear dull and uneven, and stimulates fibroblast activity for mild collagen regeneration. The infusion step delivers growth factors, peptides, and retinol precursors — supporting the skin’s structural repair mechanisms rather than just addressing surface dryness. PDT (red light wavelength, 633nm) then amplifies collagen stimulation and accelerates cellular repair at the mitochondrial level.

PREMIUM + PDT

LHA Peel — Sebum Control

LHA + salicylic deep follicular peel + zinc + niacinamide infusion + PDT (blue) for oily skin, blackheads, and persistent congestion

Patients with persistently oily skin, recurring blackheads, and sebum-driven congestion often find that standard HydraFacial extraction provides short-term clearance but the congestion returns within 2–3 weeks. The LHA Sebum Control protocol targets this at a deeper level — the LHA peel penetrates the sebaceous follicle directly, breaking down the impacted sebum at the source rather than simply extracting the surface manifestation. Combined with a zinc + niacinamide + azelaic acid infusion that normalises sebaceous gland activity, and PDT with blue light (415nm) to suppress P. acnes bacteria, this is the most comprehensive medical facial approach available for sebum-driven skin.

PREMIUM + PDT

LHA Peel — Korean Glass Skin

LHA micro-exfoliation + brightening serum complex + pore-minimising peptides + PDT for the translucent, smooth, radiant ‘glass skin’ effect

The Korean glass skin aesthetic — skin so smooth, hydrated, and luminous that it resembles glass — requires addressing four concurrent concerns: surface texture (micro-exfoliation), pore appearance (extraction and pore-minimising actives), luminosity (brightening and light-reflecting serums), and deep hydration (HA barrier restoration). No single standard facial achieves all four simultaneously at a medical grade. The LHA Korean Glass Skin protocol sequences a low-concentration LHA micro-peel for surface texture refinement, followed by a targeted infusion combining vitamin C + tranexamic acid (brightening) + niacinamide (pore minimising) + high-dose hyaluronic acid (deep hydration), finishing with PDT yellow light (590nm) that enhances skin tone evenness and supports barrier function.

PREMIUM + PDT

LHA Peel — Instant Glow

Pre-event brightening protocol — LHA + vitamin C boost + luminosity serum + PDT for same-day radiance and a fresh, lit-from-within appearance

The Instant Glow protocol is designed for a specific clinical purpose: delivering maximum luminosity and skin freshness within a single session — for patients preparing for an event, a photoshoot, a wedding, or simply wanting to look their best within 24 hours. The LHA peel concentration is kept low to avoid any post-peel redness or flaking, with the focus placed on the brightening infusion step: a high-dose vitamin C + alpha-arbutin + glutathione complex that immediately enhances skin luminosity through antioxidant activation and melanin tone-correction. PDT with yellow and red light combination delivers the final luminosity amplification — the skin emerges visibly brighter and more even than when the patient entered.

Royal HydraFacial — The Signature Total Skin Treatment

SIGNATURE PREMIUM TREATMENT + PDT

The Royal HydraFacial

The complete skin rejuvenation experience — deep cleanse, peel, extraction, growth factor infusion, dermapen, lymphatic drainage, LED mask, and PDT in one comprehensive session

The Royal HydraFacial is Cosmolaser’s most comprehensive facial treatment — a full skin rejuvenation protocol that combines every effective component of the facial menu into a single, premium experience. It is not simply a longer HydraFacial. Each element is sequenced clinically to maximise the benefit of the next step: the lymphatic drainage prepares the skin for extraction, the peel maximises extraction efficacy, the Dermapen opens micro-channels before the growth factor infusion, and PDT amplifies the collagen and repair signals triggered by the preceding steps.

The Royal HydraFacial is the appropriate choice for patients with multiple concurrent skin concerns, patients who want the most comprehensive treatment available, and patients who have not had any professional facial treatment in a significant period and whose skin would benefit from a complete reset.

PDT included

Full 15-minute PDT session — wavelength selected for primary skin concern

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) — Why It's Included in Every Premium Facial

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) uses specific wavelengths of medical-grade LED light to trigger photochemical reactions in the skin. Unlike general LED beauty devices used in consumer applications, clinical PDT uses calibrated irradiance levels — the precise energy dose delivered per unit area matters clinically and is not achievable with consumer-grade devices. At Cosmolaser, a medical-grade PDT panel is used for all premium facial treatments.

Different wavelengths produce different clinical effects — and the selection of wavelength is as important as the delivery device. PDT is not ‘light therapy’ as a general concept: it is a specific clinical tool applied to a specific indication at a specific dose.

Wavelength

Colour

Clinical Effect

415nm

Blue

Anti-bacterial — destroys P. acnes bacteria via porphyrin activation. Primary use: acne, oily/congested skin. Reduces active acne without antibiotics.

590nm

Yellow

Anti-inflammatory + brightening — reduces redness, calms reactive skin, inhibits melanin synthesis, improves tone evenness. Primary use: sensitive skin, pigmentation, post-procedure calming.

633nm

Red

Collagen stimulation — activates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin via cytochrome c oxidase. Primary use: anti-ageing, wound healing, post-laser recovery. The most widely clinically documented PDT wavelength.

830nm

Near-Infrared

Deep tissue repair + anti-inflammatory — penetrates to 5–10mm, reduces inflammation at the cellular level, accelerates healing. Primary use: deep tissue recovery, combined post-procedure protocols.

Every premium facial at Cosmolaser (LHA Peel protocols and Royal HydraFacial) includes a full 15-minute PDT session with the wavelength selected for the patient’s primary skin concern. This is included in the treatment cost — not an add-on charge.

Cryofacial — Instant Refresh, Redness Relief & Anti-Ageing

A Cryofacial delivers a precisely controlled stream of vaporised cryogen (liquid nitrogen vapour) to the face at temperatures between -120°C and -160°C — for a brief, targeted application that triggers an immediate vasoconstriction and rebound vasodilation response in the skin’s microvasculature. This vascular response has multiple clinical effects: it visibly reduces redness and inflammation almost immediately, tightens the skin surface, closes enlarged pores, reduces puffiness through enhanced lymphatic drainage, and produces a distinctive freshness and luminosity that patients consistently describe as their face ‘waking up’.

The treatment itself takes 20–30 minutes and is completely painless — the sensation is cool but not uncomfortable. There is no downtime. Patients frequently book a Cryofacial on their way to an event.

Who Is Cryofacial For?

Concern / Patient Type

What Cryofacial Does

Anti-ageing — preventive and maintenance

Vasoconstriction-rebound cycle stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis. Regular monthly Cryofacial maintains skin firmness and delays visible ageing.

Redness and rosacea-prone skin

Immediate vasoconstriction reduces visible redness. Anti-inflammatory effect calms reactivity. Can significantly reduce the visible redness of rosacea — not a cure but a highly effective management tool.

Skin inflammation — acne, post-treatment

Cold reduces inflammatory cytokines in the skin. Calms post-procedure redness after laser, chemical peels, or Dermapen.

Puffy, tired face — poor sleep

The no-sleep facial' — the lymphatic drainage and vasoconstriction response reduces morning puffiness, under-eye bags, and the flat tired appearance of sleep deprivation within 20–30 minutes.

Pre-event freshness and glow

Rebound vasodilation after cryotherapy floods the skin with oxygenated blood — producing a distinctive fresh, bright, luminous appearance that is immediately visible and lasts for hours.

Pore minimising

Vasoconstriction tightens the pore opening visibly — best pore-minimising result of any facial treatment, though temporary (hours to days).

Combination with HydraFacial

Cryofacial can be performed after HydraFacial to immediately calm any treatment redness and dramatically amplify the glow result. Popular same-day combination.

What to Expect — Your Pico Laser Session

Let’s Build Your Skincare Routine Together

We’re with you every step of the way.

01

Booking

Book online, WhatsApp, or call. If you are unsure which treatment is right for your concern, book a 'Facial Consultation' and your therapist will assess your skin and recommend the appropriate protocol at the appointment.

02

Arrival

Arrive with clean skin if possible — or arrive with makeup and we will cleanse at the start of the session. Remove contact lenses if you are having PDT or Cryofacial.

03

Skin assessment

Every session begins with a brief skin assessment — your therapist notes your current skin concerns, any new products you are using, any reactions since your last visit, and adjusts the protocol accordingly. Your treatment is customised at every visit, not run from a fixed template.

04

Treatment

Your selected facial protocol is performed. For Dermapen-containing treatments, topical anaesthetic is applied 30–45 minutes before the Dermapen step — you will wait comfortably in our treatment room during the numbing phase.

05

Post-treatment guidance

You will receive brief verbal and written aftercare for your specific treatment — which products to avoid for 24–48 hours, sun protection instructions, and when to book your next session.

06

Immediate result

Most HydraFacial and LHA Peel treatments produce a visible immediate result. The full effect develops over 3–7 days as active ingredients fully integrate. For Royal HydraFacial, the 48–72 hour result is typically the peak effect.

Frequently Asked Questions — Facial Treatments

We’ve gathered the most common questions to help you feel informed, confident, and ready for your journey with us.

What is the difference between a HydraFacial and a regular facial?

A HydraFacial uses a patented medical-grade device with a vortex tip that simultaneously exfoliates, extracts, and infuses medical-grade serum — in a single controlled pass. A regular facial relies on manual techniques and topical products that sit on the skin surface. The HydraFacial device delivers active ingredients under the skin surface with measurably better penetration than manual application, and the vacuum extraction is more effective and comfortable than manual extraction. The result is clinically visible and reproducible in a way that traditional facials are not.

How often should I get a HydraFacial?

Monthly sessions are optimal for most patients — this aligns with the skin's natural cell turnover cycle of approximately 28 days. For active acne or congestion management, every 2–3 weeks initially may be recommended until the condition is controlled, then transition to monthly maintenance. For anti-ageing protocols, monthly sessions produce progressively cumulative results that compound over time. For pre-event glow, a single session 3–5 days before the event is the standard approach.

What is LHA and how is it different from a standard chemical peel?

LHA (Lipo-Hydroxy Acid) is a lipophilic (oil-soluble) derivative of salicylic acid. Its larger molecular size means it penetrates the skin more slowly and selectively than standard acid peels — preferentially entering sebaceous follicles rather than diffusing broadly. This produces a more targeted exfoliation with less generalised skin irritation, making it more suitable for sensitive skin types and for patients who have had adverse reactions to standard glycolic or salicylic acid peels. It is the preferred peel acid for the UAE climate because it resists the irritation reactions that heat and UV-damaged skin is prone to.

What is Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) and why is it included in premium facials?

PDT uses specific wavelengths of medical-grade LED light to trigger photochemical reactions in the skin — including collagen stimulation (red 633nm), anti-bacterial activity (blue 415nm), and anti-inflammatory and brightening effects (yellow 590nm). Clinical PDT requires calibrated irradiance levels that consumer devices cannot achieve. Including PDT in every premium facial at Cosmolaser adds a clinically meaningful component to every session — treating conditions the physical facial steps cannot reach. It is a genuine clinical add-on, not a marketing term.

Is a HydraFacial suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes — with the right protocol selection. The HydraFacial Sea Coral Peel variant uses a marine enzyme peel instead of acid, making it the most appropriate option for sensitive, reactive, or rosacea-prone skin. The Korean Glass Skin LHA Peel also uses a low-concentration peel appropriate for sensitive skin. Your therapist will assess your skin at the start of every session and adjust accordingly. Always inform your therapist of any known skin sensitivities, allergies, or recent skin reactions before treatment.

What does a Cryofacial feel like, and is it painful?

A Cryofacial feels cool and refreshing — not painful. The vaporised cryogen is applied in controlled sweeping passes at a set distance from the skin — it never touches the skin directly. The sensation is an intense but comfortable coolness, similar to a cold breeze on the face. Most patients find it invigorating rather than uncomfortable. The treatment takes 20–30 minutes. Immediately after, the skin may look slightly flushed from rebound vasodilation — this is the desired clinical response and resolves within 15–30 minutes, leaving the skin looking fresh and luminous.

Can I have a facial on the same day as other treatments?

It depends on the combination. HydraFacial can be combined with Cryofacial on the same day (Cryo as a finishing step). HydraFacial should not be done on the same day as laser treatments, chemical peels, or injectables — a minimum gap of 2 weeks is recommended. Dermapen + HydraFacial is a combined protocol designed to be performed in the same session. If you are having multiple treatments, discuss the sequencing with your therapist at consultation — we can coordinate a treatment plan that maximises results while respecting appropriate healing intervals.

Is there downtime after a HydraFacial or LHA Peel Facial?

HydraFacial (all variants): no downtime. Mild flushing resolves within 1–2 hours. Return to activities immediately. LHA Peel Facials: no significant downtime. Mild redness for 2–4 hours post-treatment. Some patients notice very mild skin flaking on day 2–3 as the peel effect completes — this is normal and subtle. Dermapen + HydraFacial: mild redness for 24–48 hours, very mild skin roughness on day 2–3. Social presentability by the following morning for most patients. Royal HydraFacial: mild redness for 12–24 hours from the Dermapen component. Most patients describe their skin as 'glowing' by the following day. Cryofacial: no downtime — mild flush resolves in 15–30 minutes.
