IV Drip Therapy in Sharjah — Why the UAE Is the Perfect Environment for It

The UAE presents a unique physiological challenge that makes intravenous nutritional therapy not merely a wellness trend, but a clinically rational response to the demands of daily life here. The combination of extreme heat — which drives constant sweating and electrolyte depletion — aggressive indoor air conditioning that chronically dehydrates the mucous membranes and skin, high UV exposure that accelerates oxidative stress and nutrient consumption, and the long working hours and time-zone disruption experienced by a large expatriate professional population creates a state of chronic micronutrient insufficiency that oral supplementation often fails to adequately address.

Oral vitamins and supplements are absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract — a process that, even under optimal conditions, delivers only 20–50% of the ingested dose into the bloodstream depending on the compound. Gut health issues, common in the UAE’s diverse dietary population, reduce this further. Intravenous delivery bypasses the digestive system entirely, delivering compounds directly into the circulation at 100% bioavailability — achieving blood concentrations that are simply not achievable through oral supplementation at safe oral doses. This pharmacokinetic advantage is why IV therapy has moved from hospital wards into the wellness mainstream.

At Cosmolaser Medical Centre, IV drip therapy is practised as medicine, not as a beauty lounge experience. Every protocol is physician-prescribed following a consultation that includes relevant health history, current medications, and the patient’s specific goals. Formulations are prepared from pharmaceutical-grade ingredients under clinical protocols. The session takes place in a dedicated IV suite with medical monitoring throughout. This distinction matters: an improperly formulated or unsupervised IV drip is not merely ineffective — it can be dangerous. Our physician-led model eliminates that risk entirely.

Why Intravenous Delivery Outperforms Oral Supplements

The clinical rationale for IV therapy rests on one fundamental principle: bioavailability. The percentage of a nutrient or compound that reaches the systemic circulation and is available to cells is dramatically higher via the intravenous route than via oral ingestion — for most water-soluble vitamins and antioxidants, the difference is not marginal but transformative.

Compound

Oral Bioavailability

IV Bioavailability

Vitamin C

Up to 70% at low doses; drops to <20% at high doses due to GI saturation

100% — plasma levels 70x higher than achievable orally

Glutathione

~<10% — extensively degraded in GI tract before absorption

100% — full systemic delivery; glutathione levels measurably elevated

B12 (cobalamin)

1–5% without intrinsic factor; up to 56% sublingually

100% — bypasses intrinsic factor dependency completely

Magnesium

20–50% depending on form and GI health

100% — immediate intracellular uptake

NAD+ precursors

Variable — NMN and NR oral absorption studied; degradation variable

100% — direct NAD+ infusion or high-bioavailability IV precursors

Zinc

15–40% depending on dietary factors

100% — immediate availability

Alpha-lipoic acid

~30% — significant first-pass metabolism

100% — therapeutic plasma levels achieved rapidly

Beyond bioavailability, the speed of effect is a significant practical advantage. IV compounds reach therapeutic blood concentrations within minutes of infusion beginning — relevant for acute applications such as energy recovery, hangover resolution, pre-event performance, and immune support during the early stages of illness. Oral supplements require hours and consistent daily dosing before meaningful tissue levels are achieved.

Drip Protocol Descriptions

01 — NAD+ Booster

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a coenzyme present in every cell of the body — essential for energy metabolism, DNA repair, and the function of sirtuins (proteins involved in cellular ageing and stress response). NAD+ levels decline by approximately 50% between the ages of 40 and 60, a decline associated with reduced energy production, impaired cognitive function, slower recovery and accelerated cellular ageing. Intravenous NAD+ delivery raises cellular NAD+ levels rapidly and significantly — far beyond what oral NAD+ precursors (NMN, NR) can achieve. UAE patients report improvements in mental clarity, sustained energy, improved mood and enhanced physical recovery from regular NAD+ infusion courses.

Key Actives

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), B-complex vitamins, amino acid blend, magnesium, normal saline base

Best For

Chronic fatigue, cognitive decline, anti-ageing programme, athletic recovery, burnout, post-illness recovery, individuals over 40 seeking cellular optimisation

Session Duration

60–90 minutes (NAD+ infused slowly to avoid flushing side effects)

Recommended Frequency

Monthly for maintenance; intensive loading course of 4 sessions over 2 weeks for significant deficiency

02 — Skin Brightening & Whitening Drip

The Skin Brightening drip is one of the most requested IV protocols at Cosmolaser — driven by strong demand from UAE patients seeking even skin tone, reduced pigmentation and a brighter complexion. The active mechanism relies primarily on high-dose glutathione, the body’s most powerful endogenous antioxidant. Glutathione inhibits tyrosinase — the rate-limiting enzyme in melanin synthesis — shifting melanogenesis from darker eumelanin production towards lighter phaeomelanin. At IV doses of 1,200–2,400mg, the systemic glutathione effect on skin pigmentation is clinically measurable across a course of sessions. High-dose Vitamin C (2–5g) synergises with glutathione, enhancing its antioxidant activity, reducing oxidative melanin triggers, and stimulating collagen synthesis. Alpha-lipoic acid regenerates oxidised glutathione back to its active reduced form, extending the effective dose.

Key Actives

Glutathione (1,200–2,400mg), Vitamin C (2–5g), Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), normal saline

Best For

Uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, melasma support (alongside topical treatment), dull complexion, general skin brightening

Session Duration

45–60 minutes

Recommended Frequency

Weekly for initial course of 8–10 sessions; monthly maintenance thereafter

03 — Skin Glow Infusion

Where the Whitening Drip focuses primarily on pigmentation reduction, the Skin Glow Infusion is formulated for overall skin quality improvement — radiance, texture, firmness and hydration. The combination of collagen peptides, biotin and zinc supports dermal collagen synthesis and skin barrier integrity. Glutathione at a lower dose than the whitening protocol contributes antioxidant protection without the primary melanin-inhibiting goal. This drip is the ideal pairing with surface aesthetic treatments — scheduled alongside a HydraFacial, chemical peel or microneedling course to amplify skin quality from both inside and outside simultaneously.

Key Actives

Glutathione (600–1,000mg), Vitamin C (2g), Biotin (5mg), Collagen peptides, Zinc, B-complex, normal saline

Best For

Dull or tired-looking skin, poor skin texture, patients undergoing aesthetic skin treatment courses, general skin quality maintenance

Session Duration

45–60 minutes

Recommended Frequency

Every 2–4 weeks as a standalone; or aligned with aesthetic treatment schedule

03 — Skin Glow Infusion

Formulated around the nutritional foundation of hair follicle health, skin structure and nail integrity. Biotin (Vitamin B7) is the most widely recognised nutrient for hair and nail growth — IV doses of 5–10mg achieve blood concentrations far exceeding what oral supplements provide, delivering the cofactor activity that keratin synthesis depends on. Zinc is essential for DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing hair follicle cells and has well-documented roles in managing telogen effluvium (stress-related shedding). Selenium supports thyroid function — thyroid status is one of the most commonly missed causes of hair loss in UAE female patients. The B-complex restores the full range of water-soluble vitamins typically depleted in nutritionally restricted or stress-loaded patients.

Key Actives

Biotin (5–10mg), Zinc, Selenium, B-complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12), Silica, Vitamin C, normal saline

Best For

Hair thinning or shedding (telogen effluvium), brittle or slow-growing nails, dull skin, patients on restrictive diets, post-partum hair loss support

Session Duration

45–60 minutes

Recommended Frequency

Weekly for 6–8 sessions during active hair loss; monthly for maintenance

03 — Skin Glow Infusion

The Energy Booster is Cosmolaser’s most practically useful ‘daily life’ drip — designed for the UAE professional experiencing the combined effects of long working hours, sleep debt, demanding social schedules and the physiological stress of frequent long-haul travel. The protocol restores the key micronutrients most rapidly depleted by stress and exertion: Vitamin B12 (essential for red blood cell production and neurological energy metabolism), the full B-complex (cofactors for energy-producing metabolic pathways), magnesium (the mineral most commonly depleted by stress, involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions), CoQ10 (the mitochondrial electron carrier essential for ATP production), and taurine (an amino acid with cell membrane stabilising and anti-fatigue properties).

Key Actives

Vitamin B12 (1,000mcg), B-complex, Magnesium (400–800mg), CoQ10, Taurine, normal saline

Best For

Physical and mental fatigue, burnout, jet lag, post-travel recovery, pre-event energy, low energy from poor sleep

Session Duration

45–60 minutes

Recommended Frequency

As needed — single sessions for acute fatigue; monthly for chronic energy management

06 — Immunity Booster Drip

High-dose intravenous Vitamin C has the most extensive clinical evidence base of any IV nutritional intervention — at doses of 7.5–15g IV, blood concentrations 100x higher than the oral upper tolerable limit are safely achieved. At these concentrations, Vitamin C acts as a pro-oxidant in microenvironments of high oxidative stress (including infectious foci) while simultaneously supporting immune cell proliferation (particularly lymphocytes and NK cells), collagen synthesis for tissue repair, and iron absorption. Zinc and selenium are the two trace elements with the strongest evidence for immune function — zinc is required for thymulin (a thymic hormone) and T-cell proliferation; selenium is the cofactor for glutathione peroxidase, the primary antioxidant enzyme in immune cells.

Key Actives

Vitamin C (7.5–15g high dose), Zinc, Selenium, Glutathione (600mg), B-complex, normal saline

Best For

Illness prevention and immune priming, early-stage cold/flu support, post-illness recovery, immunocompromised states, seasonal immune support

Session Duration

45–60 minutes

Recommended Frequency

Monthly for prevention; 2–3 sessions weekly at onset of illness; post-illness course of 4

07 — Liver Detox Drip

The liver processes every substance absorbed from the gut — food, medications, alcohol and environmental toxins. In the context of UAE lifestyle, where social alcohol consumption, frequent restaurant dining and medication use are prevalent, hepatic antioxidant reserves — particularly glutathione — are chronically depleted. The Liver Detox drip replenishes these reserves directly. Glutathione is the liver’s primary detoxification antioxidant, used in phase II detoxification conjugation reactions to neutralise reactive metabolites. NAC (N-acetylcysteine) is the direct precursor to glutathione and is used clinically at the highest levels for paracetamol-induced liver toxicity — at lower doses it supports basal liver glutathione regeneration. Alpha-lipoic acid enhances hepatic antioxidant capacity and has documented hepatoprotective effects.

Key Actives

Glutathione (1,200mg), NAC (N-acetylcysteine, 600mg), Alpha-lipoic acid (300mg), B-complex, Magnesium, normal saline

Best For

Post-alcohol recovery, regular social drinkers, medication-related hepatic load, general liver health and detoxification support, fatigue attributed to hepatic sluggishness

Session Duration

60 minutes

Recommended Frequency

Monthly for regular drinkers; post-event (next day) for acute recovery; quarterly for general liver health

08 — Memory & Focus Drip

Cognitive complaints — brain fog, poor concentration, word-finding difficulty, reduced mental stamina — are among the most common presentations in Cosmolaser’s UAE professional patient base. The Memory & Focus drip targets three distinct neurological pathways: NAD+ restores mitochondrial energy production in neurons, which are the body’s highest energy-consuming cells; phosphatidylcholine provides the phospholipid substrate for neuronal membrane integrity and acetylcholine synthesis (the primary neurotransmitter of memory and attention); and magnesium-L-threonate (or standard magnesium) supports NMDA receptor function and synaptic plasticity. B12 deficiency — extremely common in vegetarian and vegan UAE residents — causes progressive neurological dysfunction and is corrected rapidly with IV administration.

Key Actives

NAD+ (500mg), Phosphatidylcholine, Magnesium-L-threonate, Vitamin B12 (1,000mcg), B-complex, Taurine, normal saline

Best For

Brain fog, poor concentration, memory concerns, cognitive decline (early), mental fatigue, high-demand professionals, students, B12-deficient patients

Session Duration

60–75 minutes

Recommended Frequency

Weekly for initial course of 4; monthly maintenance; or as needed for high-demand periods

09 — Sleep Recovery Drip

Sleep disruption is endemic in the UAE’s 24/7 professional culture — and its consequences extend far beyond tiredness. Chronic sleep insufficiency drives cortisol dysregulation, immune suppression, accelerated cognitive ageing, weight gain and skin deterioration. The Sleep Recovery drip addresses the three most common nutritional drivers of poor sleep: magnesium deficiency (which impairs GABA receptor function and raises cortisol, both preventing sleep initiation and maintenance), Vitamin B6 deficiency (the cofactor for serotonin and melatonin synthesis), and chronically depleted taurine (which modulates GABA activity in the brain and has independently documented sleep-promoting properties). The formulation does not contain sedatives or hypnotic drugs — it restores the physiological conditions that enable healthy sleep.

Key Actives

Magnesium (600–800mg), Vitamin B6 (100mg), Taurine, GABA precursors, Glycine, 5-HTP precursors, normal saline

Best For

Chronic insomnia, poor sleep quality, difficulty staying asleep, sleep debt from shift work or travel, stress-related sleep disruption

Session Duration

45–60 minutes

Recommended Frequency

Weekly for 4–6 sessions to restore baseline; then as needed for acute sleep disruption

10 — Gut Health Drip

Gut health underpins every other aspect of wellness — from immune function (70% of which resides in the gut-associated lymphoid tissue) to mental health (the gut-brain axis), skin condition and energy metabolism. The Gut Health drip targets intestinal permeability (the ‘leaky gut’ mechanism) and mucosal repair with glutamine — the primary fuel source for enterocytes (intestinal lining cells) and the most extensively studied nutrient for intestinal barrier restoration. Zinc carnosine has specific evidence for gastric mucosal protection and H. pylori eradication support. High-dose Vitamin C supports collagen synthesis in the gut lining and intestinal antioxidant capacity. The B-complex supports the rapidly dividing epithelial cells of the GI tract.

Key Actives

L-Glutamine (10–20g), Zinc carnosine, Vitamin C (2g), B-complex, Magnesium, normal saline

Best For

Leaky gut, IBS, bloating, post-antibiotic gut dysbiosis, inflammatory bowel conditions (as adjunct therapy), food sensitivities, poor oral supplement absorption from gut issues

Session Duration

45–60 minutes

Recommended Frequency

Weekly for 6–8 sessions for active gut repair; monthly maintenance thereafter

11 — Male Performance Booster Drip

Formulated around the specific nutritional demands of male physiology — with particular attention to the nutrients that support testosterone biosynthesis, mitochondrial energy production, cardiovascular performance and reproductive health. Zinc is the most critical nutritional cofactor for testosterone production — its deficiency is directly associated with hypogonadism and is extremely common in UAE men with high sweat losses, alcohol intake or low dietary zinc. CoQ10 supports mitochondrial energy production in both muscle and sperm mitochondria. Arginine is the direct precursor to nitric oxide — the vasodilator that governs blood flow to muscle and reproductive tissue. NAD+ drives the cellular energy machinery that underpins physical and sexual performance.

Key Actives

Zinc (high dose), NAD+ (500mg), Vitamin B12 (1,000mcg), CoQ10, L-Arginine, Taurine, B-complex, Magnesium, normal saline

Best For

Fatigue and low energy in men, reduced libido, athletic and gym performance, testosterone support (alongside medical assessment), post-exertion recovery, busy professional men

Session Duration

60–75 minutes

Recommended Frequency

Monthly for maintenance; 4-session loading course for significant deficiency; pre-athletic event

12 — Female Wellness Booster Drip

Tailored to address the nutritional requirements of female physiology across the hormonal cycle — with particular attention to the depletions driven by menstruation (iron, B12, magnesium), the demands of pregnancy and post-partum recovery (folate, B12, iron, zinc), and the perimenopausal transition (magnesium, B6, antioxidant support). Iron deficiency is one of the most common and underdiagnosed causes of fatigue, brain fog, hair thinning and poor skin quality in women — IV iron (where indicated on blood testing) achieves rapid replenishment that oral iron cannot match for tolerability or speed. NAC supports glutathione production and has specific relevance for PCOS management through its insulin-sensitising and antioxidant effects.

Key Actives

Iron (if blood-test indicated), Folate (B9), Vitamin B12, Magnesium (600mg), NAC, Biotin, Vitamin C, B-complex, normal saline

Best For

Menstrual fatigue and PMS symptoms, post-partum depletion, hair loss in women, perimenopausal fatigue and mood, PCOS nutritional support, general female wellness optimisation

Session Duration

60–75 minutes

Recommended Frequency

Monthly for hormonal cycle support; 4-session course post-partum; as clinically indicated

13 — Myers Cocktail (Classic Wellness)

The Myers Cocktail — developed by Dr John Myers at Johns Hopkins University in the 1970s and refined over decades of clinical use — is the foundational IV nutritional protocol and remains one of the most extensively studied IV formulations in integrative medicine. It combines magnesium, calcium, B-complex vitamins, Vitamin B12, and Vitamin C in a balanced, broadly restorative formulation that addresses the most common micronutrient deficiencies simultaneously. The Myers Cocktail is the ideal starting protocol for patients new to IV therapy, those seeking a general wellness reset, and patients who want a regular maintenance infusion without targeting a specific condition.

Key Actives

Magnesium (400mg), Calcium gluconate, B-complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6), Vitamin B12 (1,000mcg), Vitamin C (2–5g), normal saline

Best For

General wellness maintenance, fatigue and low energy, seasonal immune support, frequent travellers, first-time IV therapy patients, general health optimisation

Session Duration

30–45 minutes

Physician-Led IV Therapy — Why Medical Oversight Matters

The rapid growth of IV drip lounges and wellness bars across the UAE has created an important safety concern that many patients are unaware of: not all IV therapy providers are operating under medical supervision, and the consequences of improperly formulated or administered intravenous infusions can be serious. Intravenous compounds bypass all of the body’s natural protective barriers — the gut, the liver’s first-pass metabolism, the blood-brain barrier filtering of orally absorbed compounds. This pharmacological directness is both their therapeutic advantage and their potential risk.

Complications associated with non-physician-supervised IV therapy include: electrolyte imbalances from improperly balanced formulations (potentially causing cardiac arrhythmia in susceptible individuals), anaphylactic reactions to infused compounds without appropriate emergency management available, vein damage from incorrectly prepared or pH-incompatible infusions, and infections from non-clinical preparation environments. These are not theoretical risks — they are documented consequences of unregulated IV therapy delivery in the wellness sector globally.

IV Therapy Outcomes — Representative Patient Profiles

IV drip therapy does not produce visual before/after photography in the same way as aesthetic treatments. This section uses representative patient outcome profiles — anonymised case vignettes — to demonstrate real-world results across key protocols. Populate with authentic patient testimonials (with consent) when available.

Profile 01 — NAD+ Drip: Executive Burnout Recovery

Male patient, 47 years. Senior executive with 60-hour working weeks, frequent Dubai-London travel, chronic fatigue and mild cognitive decline over 2 years. Blood tests: low B12, borderline low Vitamin D. No underlying pathology. 4-session NAD+ loading course (fortnightly), followed by monthly maintenance.

Reported outcomes: Energy levels significantly improved from session 2. Brain fog substantially cleared by session 4. Sleep quality improved as a secondary benefit. Monthly maintenance maintained improvements. Patient described it as ‘the only thing that has actually made a difference to how I feel at work.’

Profile 02 — Skin Brightening Drip: Hyperpigmentation & Melasma Support

Female patient, 34 years (South Asian). Fitzpatrick V. Melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation on cheeks and forehead. On concurrent topical treatment course. 10-session Skin Brightening drip weekly, alongside chemical peel series.

Reported outcomes: Visible improvement in overall skin luminosity from session 4. Melasma response enhanced alongside topical treatment — combination approach superior to topical alone. Patient and physician both noted faster pigmentation improvement versus prior topical-only course. Maintenance sessions every 3 weeks post-course.

Profile 03 — Female Wellness Booster: Post-Partum Recovery

Female patient, 31 years. 3 months post-partum. Significant hair shedding, severe fatigue, brain fog, brittle nails. Blood tests confirmed iron deficiency and low B12. 6-session Female Wellness Booster course weekly, including IV iron.

Reported outcomes: Energy returned to near-normal levels by session 4. Hair shedding slowed significantly by week 6. B12 normalised within 2 sessions. Iron levels restored without the GI side effects (constipation, nausea) associated with oral iron supplementation. Patient avoided post-partum depression screening trigger from energy and mood improvement.

Profile 04 — Immunity Booster: Frequent Illness, School-Age Children

Female patient, 38 years. Mother of three school-age children. Catching every cold and viral illness brought home. 4-session immunity course, one per week, then monthly maintenance through the Sharjah school year.

Reported outcomes: Significantly reduced illness frequency — reported only one mild cold in the 6 months following the course versus 4–5 in the prior 6 months. Recovered faster on the one occasion she did become unwell. Continued monthly sessions through the academic year.

Profile 05 — Liver Detox: Regular Social Drinker, Post-Event Recovery

Male patient, 41 years. Corporate hospitality role — regular social alcohol intake. Chronic morning fatigue, mildly elevated liver enzymes on annual blood test. 4-session Liver Detox course, then monthly maintenance. Alcohol not eliminated — managed clinically alongside.

Reported outcomes: Morning fatigue improved from session 2. Liver enzyme levels normalised at 3-month blood review. Patient described significantly improved post-event recovery. No alcohol cessation required — liver support restored baseline hepatic function. Doctor reviewed blood results and confirmed hepatic improvement.

Profile 06 — Sleep Recovery: Chronic Insomnia, Shift Worker

Male patient, 35 years. Hospital shift worker with irregular sleep pattern, chronic sleep debt and sleep onset difficulty. Not wanting sleeping medication. 6-session Sleep Recovery drip course, weekly.

Reported outcomes: Sleep onset time reduced from 90+ minutes to 30–40 minutes by session 4. Sleep quality subjectively improved (less frequent waking). Not a cure — sleep hygiene advice provided alongside. Patient chose monthly maintenance sessions during high-demand rotas.

What to Expect at Your IV Drip Appointment

Let’s Build Your Skincare Routine Together

We’re with you every step of the way.

01

Medical intake assessment (first visit, 15–20 minutes)

Health history form completed. Brief physician review of medical history, current medications, allergies and contraindications. Goals and protocol discussed. Formulation confirmed or customised. For iron-containing drips and high-dose Vitamin C, a blood test may be requested before the first session if not recently available. WhatsApp pre-screening available for returning patients.

02

Preparation

Eat a light meal 1–2 hours before your session — attending on an empty stomach can cause light-headedness, particularly with magnesium-containing formulations. Arrive well hydrated. Wear comfortable clothing with easy access to the inner elbow. No fasting required.

03

IV cannula placement

The clinical team prepares the cannula site on the inner forearm or antecubital fossa. Topical anaesthetic cream can be applied for needle-sensitive patients. A small cannula (22–24 gauge) is placed — a brief sharp sensation, then settled. The cannula is secured with a dressing. Most patients barely notice it is there during the session.

04

Infusion session (30–90 minutes depending on protocol)

You are seated in a comfortable reclining chair in our private IV suite. The drip bag is connected and the infusion rate set. You are free to use your phone, read, work on a laptop or rest. NAD+ infusions are administered slowly — too fast causes a flushing or chest-pressure sensation that resolves immediately on slowing. A clinical team member is available throughout the session.

05

Monitoring during infusion

Vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate) checked at the start and mid-infusion for first-session patients. Any reactions — warmth, tingling, taste changes (common with B vitamins), or discomfort — noted and managed. The physician is contactable throughout.

06

Session completion

Cannula removed and small dressing applied — no restriction. You can drive, exercise and return to normal activities immediately. Some patients experience a brief energy surge (particularly Energy Booster and NAD+ sessions); others feel deeply relaxed (particularly Sleep Recovery and Magnesium-heavy formulations). Both responses are normal.

07

Course management

For multi-session courses, a brief check-in at session 3–4 assesses response and adjusts formulation if needed. End-of-course review with the physician. Follow-up blood testing recommended at 6–8 weeks for iron, B12 and any other markers relevant to your protocol.

Why Choose Cosmolaser Medical Centre for IV Drip Therapy?

IV Drip Therapy — Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve gathered the most common questions to help you feel informed, confident, and ready for your journey with us.

Is IV drip therapy safe?

IV drip therapy is safe when properly prescribed and administered in a medical setting with pharmaceutical-grade formulations. The key safety factors are: physician assessment before treatment to screen for contraindications, correctly formulated and dosed infusions, pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, and clinical monitoring during the session. At Cosmolaser, all four of these conditions are met for every patient. The risks associated with IV therapy arise primarily in non-medical settings where these standards are not maintained — unqualified administrators, non-pharmaceutical compounds, and no contraindication screening. Our physician-led model eliminates these risks.

Does IV drip therapy hurt?

The cannula insertion involves a brief sharp sensation — comparable to a standard blood draw. Once the cannula is in place, the infusion itself is painless. Some patients experience mild warmth, tingling or a slight taste change (particularly with B vitamins) as the infusion runs — these are normal and expected. Magnesium-rich formulations often produce a pleasant warmth and relaxation. NAD+ infusions can cause transient flushing or chest warmth if run too quickly — we always infuse NAD+ slowly to prevent this. Most patients find IV sessions deeply relaxing.

How quickly will I feel the effects?

This varies by protocol and individual. The Energy Booster typically produces a noticeable effect within hours of the session. The Immunity Booster and Liver Detox effects are felt over the following 24–72 hours rather than immediately. The Skin Brightening protocol's effects on pigmentation develop gradually across a course of 6–10 weekly sessions. NAD+ effects on energy and cognition often become apparent after the 2nd or 3rd session of an initial course. Sleep Recovery effects typically improve progressively across a 4–6 session course. The physician discusses expected onset timing for your specific protocol at assessment.

How many sessions do I need?

This depends on the protocol and your goal. Single sessions are appropriate for acute needs: jet lag, pre-event energy, post-alcohol recovery, hangover. Ongoing health goals — skin brightening, hair health, immune priming, cognitive support — require a course of 6–12 weekly sessions to achieve meaningful results, followed by monthly maintenance. NAD+ for significant fatigue or anti-ageing typically starts with a 4-session loading course. Your physician specifies the recommended course at your intake assessment based on your goals and health status.

Can I have IV therapy if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Some IV protocols are safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding with physician approval — for example, iron infusion for documented iron deficiency anaemia in pregnancy is standard clinical practice. However, many components in wellness IV protocols (high-dose Vitamin C, NAD+, herbal compounds) have insufficient safety data in pregnancy and are avoided in the first trimester without specialist obstetric guidance. Breastfeeding patients are assessed individually. Always disclose pregnancy or breastfeeding status at intake — your physician will advise which protocols are appropriate.

Is the glutathione whitening drip effective for skin lightening?

High-dose IV glutathione does produce measurable skin brightening effects over a course of sessions in most patients — the mechanism is well-established (tyrosinase inhibition shifting melanin from eumelanin to phaeomelanin). The degree of brightening varies by skin type and baseline melanin density. Results are most significant in patients with Fitzpatrick III–V skin types with post-inflammatory or UV-driven pigmentation. The effect is not permanent without maintenance sessions and sun protection — melanin production resumes at previous rates if treatment stops and UV exposure continues. We always combine the whitening drip with explicit sun protection guidance.

What is NAD+ and why is an IV drip more effective than oral NAD+ supplements?

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme present in every cell — essential for mitochondrial energy production, DNA repair, and cellular ageing regulation. Oral NAD+ supplements (NMN, NR) are precursors that the body must convert to NAD+ across multiple metabolic steps, with significant losses at each stage. IV NAD+ or its direct precursors delivered intravenously achieve blood and tissue NAD+ concentrations that are simply not achievable orally — meaning the cellular energy and anti-ageing effects are substantially more pronounced with IV delivery. Many patients who have tried oral NAD+ supplements without noticeable effect report a clear difference after an IV course.

Can I combine IV drip therapy with my aesthetic treatments at Cosmolaser?

Absolutely — and we actively encourage it. IV drip therapy is most powerful when integrated into a broader aesthetic and wellness programme. Skin Brightening drips scheduled alongside a chemical peel or microneedling course amplify both surface and systemic antioxidant effects. Hair, Skin & Nails drips scheduled alongside PRP hair treatment support follicular nutrition from within. Skin Glow infusions before a HydraFacial prepare the skin's nutritional foundation. Your physician will help design an integrated schedule that coordinates your IV and aesthetic treatments for maximum combined benefit.
